Outstanding bile pigment problems.

چکیده
In this review of the chemistry, biochemistry and chemical pathology of the bile pigments I am well aware that I shall ask many more questions than I am able to answer. It seems appropriate that the subject should be considered under the five headings: -Chemistry; Formation from Haem Proteins; Transport in the Blood; Conjugation and Transport to the Bile; and Changes in the Gut. I shall conclude with a brief account of the early labelled bilirubin. Because investigation of the pathological significance of the chemical changes undergone in the body is possible only if the chemical structures of the bile pigments are accurately known, my department in London has been very much concerned during the last 15 years with the chemistry of the bile pigments. The work I shall describe has been carried out in collaboration with Dr. NICHOLSON, Dr. KULCZYCKA, Dr. COLE, Dr. PETRYKA and more recently by Mr. STOLL and Miss LEMMON. ∗PMID: 4242308 [PubMed indexed for MEDLINE] Copyright c ©OKAYAMA UNIVERSITY MEDICAL SCHOOL Acta Med. The Frequency of Bacterial Agents in the Bile Juice of Patients with Bile Stones and Biliary Disorders
Abstract Background and objectives: Bile in healthy people is a sterile fluid and presence of any microorganism can be a marker for a disorder like cholelithiasis. The aim of this study was to determine the frequency of bacterial agents in the bile of patients with bilestone, malignant pancreatic and biliary diseases. Material and Methods: One hundred and two bile samples were obtained, during ...
متن کاملRelative measurement of heavy elements in the bile, gallbladder and gallstone
ABSTRACT BACKGROUND: PIXE (Particle Induced X-Ray Emission) is a suitable method for the analysis of biological samples in which heavy trace elements are contained in light matrix elements. It is very important to know which factors or probably elements act as initial seed and lead to growing the sands. The goal of this study was to compare the relative values of Fe/K, Cu/K and Zn/K for gallst...

The bile acids in brown pigment stones and gall-bladder bile were fractionated into free acids, gly-cine and taurine conjugates, and sulfates, usingdiethylamino-hydroxypropyl-SephadexLH-20 (DEAP-LH-20)column chromatography, and were quantitatedby gas chromatography. Twenty-eight cases of brownpigment stones were studied and divided into twogroups: those wi...
متن کاملThe three serum bile pigments in obstructive jaundice and hepatitis.
Many workers have observed that in obstructive jaundice and hepatitis hyperbilirubinaemia is due mainly to a rise in those pigments which give a " direct " reaction in the van den Bergh test. Cole, Lathe, and Billing (1954) have shown that there are two water-soluble pigments which give this reaction. They appear to be chemically related to bilirubin, but their exact structure is still unknown ...
متن کاملSplenectomy in Bile Fistula Dogs
A splenectomized dog can be kept anemic for months or years in perfectly good condition. A renal bile fistula dog on a suitable diet can be kept in perfect health and activity with normal weight for years. When we combine splenectomy and the bile fistula, after a latent period, we invariably observe a striking reaction with enormous over-production of bile pigment, a definite anemia and finally...
